Hello ,

I thought to upgrade my firmware because my mp4 player wasnt working anymore (from day 1!)
It seems i did a wrong firmware in it , and now its locked!
I Can only turn him off by pushing the reset button (you know , in the hole).

I only could recognize the mp4 player as rockusb device ONCE , thats why the ugrade worked.
But it seems it is the wrong firmware.

Windows XP is installing a device driver by default mass storage driver or something , but the only way we can do a firmware is trough the "rockusb" driver (downloaded here btw).

So , I know i can upgrade the firmware , but first my computer must recognise the device as a "rockusb" device , and not as "Rock mp3 device" (or something like that).

BTW : I can upload songs to it , and so on , the device is working , but it seems that the upgrade software only works trough the "rockusb" driver.

Can somebody help me out ?
Im talking about this player ...

Many thanks, Kuoi
This is how to get into update (RockUsb) mode,

All you do is this,

1) Switch the player OFF using the main on/off switch.

2) Hold down the "MENU" button and keep it held down.

3) Connect the usb to the player.

4) Wait for about 10 seconds before releasing the button.

5) You should be now in "ROCK USB" upgrade mode

6) Then just start ConsumerUpdate and upload your correct firmware.
Many thanks for the quick reply.
I searched the web (and this forum) for 2 days now , and found this solution, but this doesnt work when the "rockusb" driver is not recognised in XP .
It is recognised as "Rockchip USB mp3" but that should be "rockusb device"
Then it worked 1 time , thats why the upgrade did work.

Ive tried the method you tell me about 20 times now , but no luck.
Consumer Update keeps telling me "USB device not found" even when it is recognised in windows XP , and I can upload songs to it.

Hope this helps a bit , Kuoi
